What Is the Booking.com Genius Program?
The Booking.com Genius Program is a marketing initiative designed to connect property hosts with the platform's most loyal travelers. For guests, it's a tiered loyalty program that unlocks discounts and travel perks based on their booking frequency.
For hosts, opting into the program grants their listings special Genius branding, a ranking boost in search results, and targeted promotion to a valuable audience of repeat bookers. Participation is free for eligible hosts, but requires offering a mandatory discount to Genius-level guests.

How it works
Guests are automatically enrolled in the Genius Program and advance through its levels by completing stays. Level 1 is achieved after two stays in two years, unlocking a 10% discount.
Higher levels, unlocked with more stays, offer larger discounts and additional perks. Property hosts who meet eligibility criteria—typically having a minimum number of reviews and a high review score—can opt into the program via their Booking.com extranet.
Once enrolled, their property is marked with a Genius logo, and they are required to provide the base 10% discount. Hosts can then choose to offer additional incentives, such as higher discounts or free breakfast, to attract higher-tier Genius members.
Why it matters
Participation in the Genius Program can significantly enhance a property's performance on Booking.com. The increased visibility from special tagging and boosted search rankings can lead to a higher occupancy rate.
By targeting Genius members, hosts gain access to a customer segment that travels more often, books further in advance, and spends more per booking. While this requires a reduction in margin via discounts, the trade-off often results in more consistent revenue and fewer vacant nights.

Examples
- A host of a city-center apartment enrolls in the Genius Program to stand out among hundreds of competing listings. By offering the standard 10% discount, they experience a 15% increase in bookings from frequent business travelers who are Genius members.
- A property manager with a portfolio of beachside villas opts into Genius and adds a 15% discount for Level 2 members. This attracts more bookings during the shoulder season from loyal Booking.com customers searching for better value.
- A new host with three guest reviews and an average score of 8.5 joins the Genius Program. Their property immediately receives the Genius badge, which helps it gain credibility and attract its first bookings from established travelers.
- To further incentivize bookings, a cabin owner participates in the program and also offers Genius guests a free welcome breakfast. This extra perk is highlighted on their listing, leading to a higher conversion rate compared to other local properties offering only the standard discount.
